The upcoming 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross is something completely new on the markets. It is basically a better-looking C-HR variant, made for Europe. First impressions are more than positive and Yaris Cross will become Toyota’s smallest crossover. It will ride on the same platform as the hatchback variant but the architecture will be extended.

Sharing the same GA-B Toyota New Global Architecture with the Yaris, the Yaris Cross’ platform is a 10mm longer and 35mm (front) and 45mm (rear) wider, but its body is significantly larger again – some 240mm longer, 70mm wider and 85mm taller than the supermini hatch. Still, the Yaris Cross is shorter than the C-HR model. The Japanese manufacturer will offer a hybrid powertrain and plenty of tech goodies. Its arrival has been scheduled for this fall and it will go on sale in Europe and Japan. The price should be very affordable.
2021 Yaris Cross Dimensions and Exterior Design
As we said, a new 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross will ride on the same platform as the Yaris hatchback. However, the architecture is extended and Cross variant is 164.5 inches long. Moreover, it is 69.5 inches wide and 61.5 inches tall. Interestingly, the C-HR model is still seven inches longer and inch wider. Yaris Cross will become Toyota’s smallest crossover and it will wear interesting and funky design. Like the Yaris hatchback, Cross variant will introduce the same body lines.
Moreover, you can expect plenty of customization and we recommend to skip the base trim level. Mid-grade trim levels are a better option with an LED lighting system and a two-tone exterior color scheme. Yaris Cross looks stylish and we really like optional 18-inch alloy wheels. The small crossover comes with a sportier vibe and the rear part looks very modern.
Interior To Be Shared With the Hatchback Yaris
The forthcoming 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross comes with unique interior design. The cabin looks very upscale and more stylish than the hatchback version. The center console is pushed deeper which provides slightly more room upfront. The same dash comes with gloss black plastic materials and it looks modern.
The air vents are featuring metallic accents and overall, we like this interior for many reasons. Legroom is ample but taller rear passengers will have some trouble, especially on the longer trips. There will be room for five passengers. Toyota will introduce more equipment than in the Yaris hatchback version and larger displays. We’d suggest you to buy optional ambient lighting that looks amazing.
Hybrid Engine Specs
The all-new 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross will use a hybrid powertrain. Of course, you can buy a regular version with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. However, a hybrid model is the highlight and it will represent the most popular option without any doubts.
Toyota Yaris Crossover 2020
The hybrid system deploys a three-cylinder engine that makes 116 horsepower. AWD system is available and Toyota also offers both six-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. The base model will deploy a standard front-wheel-drive setup, like its hatchback sibling.
2021 Toyota Yaris Cross Price and Release Date
This small crossover won’t arrive in the US for another two or three years. Instead, a new 2021 Toyota Yaris Cross will go on sale in Japan and Europe. This crossover will firstly arrive in Japan this fall and then in Europe in the first quarter of 2021. The price will start slightly below $25,000. The main competitors should be Ford Puma and Renault Captur.
Toyota Yaris Crossover 2021 Price
Back in April 2020, when it was first unveiled, Toyota’s Yaris Cross was dressed up in an Elegant grade. Now, as it turns out, that won’t be the only choice for Old Continent fans, as the B-segment SUV will also be offered as the Yaris Cross Adventure or Yaris Cross Premiere Edition.
Actually, the latter is just the flagship variant of the Adventure trim, coming to market with “exclusive trim and features,” but only for the first 12 months of sale. So, it’s essentially a launch edition, meaning we can comfortably explore the Yaris Cross Adventure.
This derivative of the hybrid crossover is, as the name implies, a bit more rugged as it “emphasizes the car’s suitability for life beyond urban streets, for time spent exploring and enjoying the great outdoors and open roads.” As such, we can see added protection elements, standard roof rails, new 18-inch dark grey alloys, and a purposeful treatment bestowed upon the interior.
The latter comes with a special Adventure-grade design for the seat upholstery, piano black trimming and headliner, as well as certain elements dressed up in the Yaris Cross’ signature shade of Warm Gold. Under the metal, the new model rides on the same TNGA-B platform as the regular Yaris and comes equipped with the company’s proprietary hybrid powertrain.
The fourth-generation setup combines a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle mill with an electric motor and outputs 116 ps (114 hp). Better yet, it’s hooked up to an optional AWD-i system, and the intelligent all-wheel-drive system also includes “a manually-selected mode switch for Trail and Snow modes to enhance vehicle stability in tricky road conditions.”
